RECAP 2021
The Freedom Summit was a mountaineering expedition for Mental Health in October 2021 that faced many challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions. The island of Bali entered PPKM, which is a state of lockdown and the Freedom Summit had to be broken up into smaller groups spanning nearly 5 weekends of mountain climbing.
The Freedom Summit trail was developed out of the Desa Ban region of Karangasem. This is the most impoverished area of Bali, seldom seen by tourists, and facing challenges in securing some of human life’s necessities of food and water. The trail took over 500 man-hours to complete and is absolutely stunning!
FREEDOM SUMMIT II
Freedom Summit 2 features 2 mountain climbs, 2 camping locations
and 2 Divisions.
Mountaineer Division - climbing Mount Abang through the Freedom Summit trail out of Desa Ban, Karangasem followed by a boat journey across Batur, camping again, and finishing with a climb of Mount Batur for a tangerine Sunrise.
Base Camp Hero - Family, Elderly, and Disabled friendly - climbing to the Freedom Summit campground from Jatituhuh village (approx 800 meters), aiding in setting up camp, helping with processes, and enjoying some great activities!
Happening on October 20th-22nd!
Freedom Summit II is going to be bigger, better, and a bit harder, but also more fun and guaranteed a bigger impact!
Mountaineer Division limited to only 60 participants!
Division 2 Base Camp Hero’s - Unlimited participants
Family and kids are welcome to climb Mt Batur with the physically challenged, the blind, and more…
Together We Can!
We are not going to be doing just 1 mountain, this is Freedom Summit II, so all participants will climb 2 mountains over the course of 48 hours.
Freedom Summit II will be a climb of the
Freedom Summit Trail out of Desa Ban Karangasem, over the 2 peaks of Mount Abang, down into Trunyan village where they will take local boats across the beautiful Lake Batur and set up Camp for the second days climb of Mount Batur.
Participants legs will be slightly sore, bellies slightly empty, energy running low but the climb to the top of an active volcano for a tangerine sunrise will be the final push for the Bali Bersama Bisa Freedom Summit!
